[Commonplace book], [late 17th century].

Manuscript on paper, in a single hand, consisting of a collection of six poems, many of them responses to Wentworth Dillon, Earl of Roscommon's poem An Essay on Translated Verse. These include Dryden's To the Earl of Roscommon on his Excellent Essay on Translated Verse; Knightly Chetwood's To the Earle of Roscommon on his Excellent Poem; and J. Amherst's To the Earl of Roscommon, on his Excellent Essay on Translated Verse. The volume also contains two poems, Cowpers Hill and On Mr. Abraham Cowley, by Sir John Denham.
